We are so excited to have Africa Yoga Project joining us at YBY on their annual Hands, Hugs, & Happiness Tour! This tour is a fundraiser that helps to support AYP in achieving their goals throughout Africa. AYP was created in 2007 to train youth and to build the wellbeing industry so that previously disenfranchised young people from marginalized communities could earn a self-sustaining income as community leaders. In turn, it enables them to build healthy, wellness-promoting communities. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, AYP serves diverse, marginalized, and vulnerable communities.
Scott and Kennedy, two teachers from Uganda, will be with us November 7th, 8th, and 9th. They will be bringing their inspiring energy, sharing their stories and their music at our studio on November 7th AND 8th at 7pm. They will teach an Afro Beats Yoga class on the 7th and an African Dance & Yoga with Drums class on the 8th. After class, we will watch a short video about AYP and you will have the opportunity to meet them and connect. These two events are FREE with opportunities to donate at any level. We will hold a raffle each night and one lucky winner will receive a membership to YBY!!! So bring your friends and join us for a fun class in support of this life-changing not-for-profit!!
Sign up online [here] at yellowbrick.yoga or just show up! These classes are for all ages and all experience levels. EVERYONE WELCOME!
On November 9th, we will be hosting a Community Dinner in Lenexa, KS as a unique opportunity to spend time with Scott and Kennedy in an intimate setting. Join us as we celebrate the spirit and mission of AYP by merging communities with Core Energy KC! Bringing people together is really what AYP is about, and we can’t wait to share this memorable evening with you. Come enjoy an African themed meal with us in Leanna’s Aunt Beth’s beautiful home and learn more about AYP and their mission. We will have lots of cool items up for grabs in a raffle including class memberships from Core and YBY, lululemon mats, jewelry, books and more! The suggested donation for dinner is $100/plate and entry gets you an arm’s length of raffle tickets.
Please RSVP for dinner by Monday, November 5th either directly through us at email@example.com, or by making a donation here and listing 'Community Dinner' in the comments section. We will email you confirmation and directions to Beth’s house shortly after.
Thanks yogis, for all you do to make this world a better place. SHINE ON
Hugs. Handstands. Happiness. We can not think of three other words that describe walking into to the Africa Yoga Project Shine Center, our community based yoga center where hundreds of people practice yoga weekly in Nairobi, Kenya. We want to bring the contagious energy, enthusiasm and talents of AYP Teachers to communities across the US with our bi-annual tour.
This tour spans a month during which 2-4 AYP yoga instructors from Africa travel across North America stopping for 3-4 days in each location hosted by individuals like YOU. They will teach yoga classes, share food, stories and explore your community with you! Want to host? Email Programs@africayogaproject.org.
